In a surprising turn of events, Warner Brothers announced today that Ben Affleck will not direct the upcoming Batman solo film.
From Warner Brothers
“Warner Bros. fully supports Ben Affleck’s decision and remains committed to working with him to bring a standalone Batman picture to life.”
The much anticipated movie will be Batman’s first solo entry into the cinematic version of the DC Comic book universe.
Although Affleck’s acting career has been uneven, nobody can question his ability to direct high quality films.
So while he did not set the world on fire as Batman, or Daredevil, comic book fans fully expected a sleek version of the Batman narrative with Affleck at the helm.
Alas, it wont be happening.

There are certain characters who hold a special place in the hearts of millions,” Affleck said in a statement. “Performing this role demands focus, passion and the very best performance I can give. It has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require. Together with the studio, I have decided to find a partner in a director who will collaborate with me on this massive film.
I am still in this, and we are making it, but we are currently looking for a director. I remain extremely committed to this project, and look forward to bringing this to life for fans around the world.”
The upcoming Batman film does not have a release date, but it does have a villian.
Joe Manganiello will play Slade Wilson, otherwise known as Deathstroke, in the film.
Tastie Fish will keep you updated on the details of the new Batman movie.
