Hope Hicks is having a rough week

From Sputnik

White House communications director Hope Hicks is often regarded as the quiet power behind the throne, in some respects, she is the real Vice President of the United States.

There is an endless amount of dynamics within the Trump administration that defy convention, including the fact that job titles are irrelevant inside of the White House.

Hope Hicks has become one of the most powerful people in America because the President’s chain of command is soley predicated upon a person’s personal relationship with the President, the actual mandate of the position is not important to Trump.

So Jared Kushner, Ivanka Trump, and Hope Hicks are effectively running the country at this point in time.

None of them have any serious experience in matters of goverance, or national security, but the fate of the world is in their hands.

The argument can be made, that Hope Hicks has the most direct line to the President among the three, which is a stunning statement if you consider the presence of Ivanka Trump.

Hope’s unbelievable accesion from a model to a historical figure has come with a price.

She is now in the eye of the Donald Trump storm, not only the investigation into Russian interference, but also this whole Rob Porter business.

What’s up with that?

Hicks is reportedly in a relationship with the now departed White House spokesperson who became the subject of a firestorm this week when it was revealed that two of his ex wives had informed the White House that he physically abused them.

There is detailed accounts, photos, television interviews, the whole nine yards.

The plot really thickned when the Washington Post reported that chief of staff John Kelly was aware of the spousal abuse, and still pushed for Mr. Porter to recieve full security clearance.

Lost in the story, is that fact that Hope Hicks played a part in the following statement released by the White House in reponse to concerns about Mr. Porter’s behavior.

“Rob Porter is a man of true integrity and honor and I can’t say enough good things about him. He is a friend, a confidante and a trusted professional. I am proud to serve alongside him.”

A very heartfelt sentiment from Hope Hicks, and John Kelly, totally consistent with the type of concern you would come to expect when addressing victims of spousal abuse.

Media reports indicate that Hope Hicks(and most top aides) was aware that Mr. Porter beat up both of his ex wives, and still attempted to “elevate his standing” according to CNN, but she still went far out of her way discredit the allegations of abuse against him.

That’s a problem on several levels.

Hope Hicks represents the executive branch of the government, it’s unprofessional and unethical for her to use her position of influence to protect her love life while marginalizing victims.

Unacceptable, in a normal world she would be fired, and publish an apology.

But this isn’t a normal world is it?

Hope Hicks is also a major player in the investigation into Russian interference, some would even go as far as to call her a suspect.

There is concern that she willfully obstructed justice aboard Air Force One in wake of the Trump Tower meeting narrative hitting the mainstream, an occurence that still has yet to be fully explained.

There is numerous situations currently under criminal scrutiny that Ms. Hicks was involved in, both Congress and Special Robert Mueller have made it clear they want to hear from Hope Hicks.

Hope cannot run from these questions, and she must be mulling how far she is willing to go to protect the President.

All of a sudden the quiet power behind the throne is radioactive, the Rob Porter story was a massive embarrassment to the White House, and Hicks involvement in the potential obstruction of Justice has made her a colossal liability to Donald Trump.

Hope Hicks is having a rough week.
