The NHFPL, CT Next, and the ECIC cut the ribbon on the Ives Squared space

City and state officials cut the ribbon a brand new space within the confines of the New Haven Public Library this afternoon.

Mayor Toni Harp, Senator Martin Looney, and a delegation from the public library unveiled a marvelous maker space that is complimented by swanky cafe that will be a resource of amenities for visitors to the library moving forward.

The space has been dubbed Ives Squared, a project that was completed with in cooperation with the New Haven ECIC, CT Next, Elm City Collaborative, and the Harp administration.

The event featured incredible gadgets, the maker space portion of the library will be put to good use by a community that needs as many resources as it can get.

The event did not go off without a hitch however.

The event was crashed by protestors, many of whom objected to the distribution of resources that went into creating the space.

Despite the public anger on display Wednesday afternoon, the team behind the new projected remained confident that the new project will create opportunities for all New Haven residents.
