As one of the most accomplished champions of her generation, the Polish superstar will be looking to finish the deal this year after coming so close last August.

The returning champion, Daria Gavrilova, has signed onto the ticket as well, and is widely expected to do damage within the 30 player singles draw.

The Connecticut Open also announced that solar panels have been added to the upper deck, the new devices will generate serious amounts of electricity given the pressure cooker the stadium becomes in August.

Organizers also announced that Sofibella has been named as a new platinum sponsor, the clothing company will outfit the ball kids, and the officiating teams.

The gold sponsors were pretty high profile as well, Pepsi will be the official soft drink, and Cheeses of Europe will be the official cheese of the tournament.

The cheese makers made an appearance at the presser, providing amazing food and some good laughs.

Hearst Media announced that the Connecticut magazine will be doing a massive spread in advance of the tournament in early August.

Avangrid announced they will stage “power zones” at the tournament that will keep fans powered up throughout the proceedings.

All in all?

The Connecticut Open has all the trimmings of a successful promotion, but the bottom line speaks loudest, the event will have to make a dent at the box office.

Tickets officially go on sale today, so it will be interesting to see how the live gate shakes out as the build up to the Connecticut Open begins.
