What is the deal with R. Kelly and his “sex cult”?

From Twitter

R&B singer R. Kelly is among the more talented singers in the history of the game, but he is also one of the more controversial public figures America has ever seen.

Throughout his public life, there has been odd allegations of inappropriate contact with young girls.

His rap sheet is terrifying.

He married a 15 year old singer named Aaliyah  in 1994, he was caught on video having sex(he also urinated on her) with an underage girl in 2002, an act that netted him 21 counts of child pornography.

He got off on the charges.

Fast forward to 2017.

R. Kelly is now accused of running a sex cult by 3 different sets of parents, the families allege he is holding several young women hostage.

Other women, who has been prisoners of the cult, have come forward, and confirmed the rumors.

A damaging report in Buzzfeed indicated that Kelly  is again engaging in disgusting behavior with young women.

Surprisingly enough, these woman are not seen as hostages by the law, evidently they live with Kelly, and do his bidding of their own volition.

Here is a passage from the report

“Three former members of Kelly’s inner circle — Cheryl Mack, Kitti Jones, and Asante McGee — provided details supporting the parents’ worst fears. They said six women live in properties rented by Kelly in Chicago and the Atlanta suburbs, and he controls every aspect of their lives: dictating what they eat, how they dress, when they bathe, when they sleep, and how they engage in sexual encounters that he records.

The last time J. saw her daughter was Dec. 1, 2016.

From Twitter

“It was as if she was brainwashed. [She] looked like a prisoner — it was horrible,” she said. “I hugged her and hugged her. But she just kept saying she’s in love and [Kelly] is the one who cares for her. I don’t know what to do. I hope that if I get her back, I can get her treatment for victims of cults. They can reprogram her. But I wish I could have stopped it from happening”

We suggest you read the full report,  it’s an absolutely harrowing tale.

Here are some other tidbits

  1. He calls the women his babies, they have to call him daddy
  2. He takes phones away, the women can only use phones issued by R Kelly, and they cannot contact family or friends.
  3. When R Kelly has male guests, he makes his women face the wall so nobody can look at them
  4. He makes them wear jogging outfits so they don’t look “appealing
  5. He physically abuses the women if they break any of his “rules”.

These are but just a few of the conditions these women are living under.

R. Kelly has denied the explosive the allegations, but the backlash has been swift.

Nobody is giving him the benefit of the doubt because he clearly has serious issues when it comes to younger women.

His tour canceled several dates because of meager ticket sales, he has been asked by officials in Georgia not to perform in the state, and there still is lingering question of criminal scrutiny given his past history.

The entire story is disturbing, and calls into question why law enforcement has not interceded.

R. Kelly is a gifted performer, but he will always be regarded as a deeply troubled man, and this story could end up being the situation that sinks him.
