Watch: Russian Ambassador gunned down during speech in revenge attack for Aleppo

From the UK Telegraph

It was only a matter of time.

As I wrote last week, the Russian Federation’s bloody involvement in the Syrian War would have repercussions far beyond the field of battle.

Along with the Bashar al-Assad led Syrian government, the Russians have launched an arial assault on civilian populations as the 4 year long Syrian War rages on in different parts of country.

The epicenter of this campaign has been the now fallen city of Aleppo, the third largest city in Syria.

The air campaigns have wiped out  thousands of citizens, and many them were not warriors, or freedom fighters.

They were innocent people, children,  and despite the pleas of the international community, the Russians continued to bomb a defenseless city back to the stone age.

I wrote that this reckless behavior would have long term consequences, and that those consequences would not show up in Aleppo.

They would show up somewhere else in the world.

Today, we saw what can happen when you target an entire population of innocent people with no just cause for doing so.

You run the risk of radicalizing large segments of that population, and their mission in life will be to destroy you.

From CNN

A gunman shot and killed Russia’s ambassador to Turkey Monday at an art exhibition in Ankara, Russia’s foreign ministry said.

Ambassador Andrey Karlov was giving a speech at the opening ceremony of a photo exhibit when an assailant opened fire,

In a video circulating on social media that shows the shooting of the ambassador, the gunman is heard shouting, “Allahu akbar (God is great). Do not forget

Aleppo! Do not forget Syria! Do not forget Aleppo! Do not forget Syria!”

“Get back! Get back!” the man can be heard shouting in Turkish as he waves a gun.

“Only death will remove me from here. Everyone who has taken part in this oppression will one by one pay for it,” he said.

To see any innocent person murdered in cold blood on camera is bone chilling, and from all accounts, Andrey Karlov was a decent man.

He did not deserve to die like this, nobody does.

The assassination of a diplomat is a nightmare.

From the UK Telegraph

This was political, at some point, there was going to be blowback for Rusian aggression in Syria.

Now we have it, and President Vladimir Putin is going to have trouble justifying his incredulous behavior to the Russian public when attacks like these keep happening at the expense of the the citizens he is charged with protecting.

This is just the begining.

I have little doubt that Russia will replace the United States as the biggest target of terror in the world.

The familes that were destroyed, the children that suffered, the tragic circumstances that the people of Aleppo were subjected too has given rise to an anger that won’t be interested in anything but revenge.

Update 1:29pm

It appears the killer was a cop, an off duty police officer according to the New York Times

It still is not clear if this young man is of Syrian heritage, but we would imagine that information will be forthcoming shortly.
